Cheap products made for a consumerist society are more than likely made with poor quality, poor labor standards, and poor environmental/health concerns. For this reason, products are no longer made to last, they are made for fast production. Instead of buying 100 cheap items that last you one year, wouldn't you rather buy 1 quality product to last you +10 years?
We all can relate to the feeling owning a new item can give us. Too often do we buy something in order to bring us happiness only to find out that happiness was temporary. When you consume you allow something new in your world, something that most would say improves your quality of life. I say when we buy things it is a way to fill a desire untouched. Is it really worth your money if it won't last you years? Is it worth wasting your space and cluttering your home? When the place you come home to relax in is cluttered, it is a precursor to a cluttered mind and cluttered life. Live simply, enjoy the things need plentifully, and the things you want mindfully. |
